I have been a pastor and coach for over 40 years. Today, I work full time as a coach, speaker, and writer. I am the Founder of Invest Leadership Initiative where we help high impact leaders and their teams facing personal and organizational challenges develop and grow by investing in themselves, assuring the realization of success and life fulfillment.
In his book Replenish: Leading from a Healthy Soul, Lance Witt lays out some difficult statistics regarding pastors today.
According to studies by The Barna Group, Focus on the Family, Fuller Seminary, and the Institute of Church Leadership Development:
- 1,500 pastors leave the ministry permanently each month in America
- 80% of pastors feel discouraged in their roles
- 70% of pastors do not have a close friend, confidant or mentor
- Over 50% of pastors are so discouraged they would leave the ministry if they could but have no other way of making a living
- Over 50% of pastor’s wives feel that thier husband entering ministry was the most destrucitve thing to ever happen to thier families
- 71% of pastors stated they were burned out, and they battle depression beyond fatigue on a weekly and even a daily basis
- one out of every ten ministers will actually retire as a minister

Statics like those above are exactly what motivated me to begin coaching pastors and ministry leaders. I have been there before. It is far too easy to allow yourself to become isolated as a ministry leader. Loneliness has a way of creeping in and causing destruction in our lives. Through a coaching relationship and joining a community of like-minded leaders, you are able to combat isolation in a healthy way – all while pursuing growth, success, and achieving your goals.

ABOUT DUKE
I have been coaching people from all walks of life for over forty years. My career started in Pastoral Ministry. I have planted two churches and served as the Family Life Pastor at a Central Florida mega church. I also served as the Lead Pastor of a growing church with a large pastoral staff. Basically, I have spent my entire life helping people grow and succeed.
In addition to my career in ministry, I am a professionally trained coach and the founder of Invest Leadership Initiative. I am a coach and coach trainer, author, and speaker.
I am an authorized partner with the Wiley Corporation, specializing in Everything DiSC and the Five Behaviors of a Highly Cohesive Team and a certified coach with Natural Church Development. I am also a Certified Leadership Coach with the John Maxwell Team.
BIBLIOGRAPHY
In 2016, with the help of my team I self-published my first book, Get Up and Grow: 21 Habits of Successful People. I wrote this book for leaders looking to grow. Those who are willing to invest in themselves by developing habits that foster personal and professional Growth.
In 2017 we released a second addition through Morgan James Publishing. I am so incredibly proud of this book and the stories we’ve heard from the impact it’s made on readers! Since publishing Get Up and Grow, we have also released the Get Up and Grow Journal and My Daily Gratitude Journal.
