Most of us have been exposed to the Marvel superheroes through comic books, blockbuster movies, and the total brand of series produced by Marvel Comics.  As a child, did you have a superhero you looked up to? Maybe a police officer, firefighter, Batman, Superman, another? If you had a superhero, who was yours? Deep inside most of us, there is a desire to be someone else’s hero. This may come through counseling, speaking, consulting, or being authentic in relationships. Knowing we have a purpose in our lives comes through investing in the lives of others. This is established through what I have identified as six keys listed below. Take a look and see how you can apply these keys in your life so you can become someone else’s hero.

  1. You need to know what you believe

In a society where tremendous pressure can cause a change in opinions, beliefs, or thoughts, be the one who sticks to your beliefs. When you are consistent and solid with your beliefs, you will be one step closer to being someone else’s hero.
  1. Live with the end in mind

Living with the end in mind is a game-changer. This completely re-prioritizes our lives and the decisions we make. How are the decisions we make today going to impact and influence others after I am gone?
  1. The golden rule treat others the way you want to be treated

I cannot say enough about this. How do you want to be treated when you go into a restaurant, new business, or a meeting? How would you want to be treated in a church? When we treat others the way we would want to be treated, our perspective of relationships shifts from our needs to theirs, which makes us a hero in their eyes.
  1. Be a Giver, not a Taker

One of the biggest issues of our modern day society is over indulgence. We are influenced by media to acquire more, get more, do more, spend more, but are we encouraged to ever give more? When we shift our intentions from getting or taking to giving, it creates a newness in our hearts.
  1. Be Committed to the Success of Others

How are you committed to the success of others? How can you commit yourself to the success of others? When you commit to promote others, love others, serve others, and give to others, you apply your gifts, skills, and talents to the success of someone else. A hero is committed to the success of those around him.
  1. Be Yourself

If you want to be a hero, you need to be yourself. This is not complicated. Don’t give in to the influence of negative external sources; instead, be who you were created to be. Being genuine and accepting who you are will cause others to respect you. Not everyone will like you, but integrity invites respect.   When we focus on the six steps we mentioned above, we establish a platform to be someone else’s hero. However, our intentions should be to give, to serve, to commit to their success, and treat others how we would want to be treated. This can come through the creation of new positive habits. What are some ways you could create habits in each of these six areas? ]]>
