“…Deep, broad reading habits are often a defining characteristic of our greatest leaders and can catalyze insight, innovation, empathy, and personal effectiveness.” (For Those Who Want to Lead, Read by John Coleman) I believe reading is an important factor into leadership. If you don’t want to take my word for it, there’s research to prove it! According to the Harvard Business Review, reading not only makes you smarter, it also helps you lead people more effectively. Bottom line: Good leaders make room for learning, and reading is a great way to do that. Now, we’re in a time where education and inspiration is at our beck and call. If we want to read a book while we drive to work, or as we get ready in the morning, all we have to do is download and play an audiobook. And I’ve found a way to make that easier on your wallet. Tunein  is an app you can download on your smartphone and has a large selection of audiobooks, music, podcasts, live news, and more. All you have to do is create an account online, download the app, and then start listening. For a premium account — which gives you unlimited audiobook downloads straight to your phone — all you have to pay is about $8 per month. That’s less than a week’s worth of coffee! Soon, I’ll be starting a series around the book The Fred Factor by Mark Sanborn. This book is one of the many leadership-related books available on Tunein. So, if reading has been put on the backburner due to lack of time, energy, or finances, here is an inexpensive way to knock out your reading list! And keep your podcast subscriptions in the same place. What’s on your reading list?
